Noblewood Tarpania was named Grand Champion of the 2022 Devon Breed Show as day two of “Dressage at Devon” concluded on Wednesday evening 28 September 2022.
Devon Breed Show
Dressage at Devon is one of the oldest international dressage competitions in the U.S.A. and its CDI leg is always preceded by a breed show, bringing the best East coast breeders to the historic Devon show grounds near Philadelphia, PA.
The Devon breed show takes three days and includes individual classes for breeds in every arrays, but also under saddle materiale classes.
The Grand Championship is the culmination of the show, bringing together the champion and reserve champions of the two biggest classes: The Young Horse and Mature Horse Championship.
Noblewood Tarpania, Grand Champion
Catherine Malone’s 4-year old Dutch warmblood mare Noblewood Tarpania (by Revolution x Furst Romancier) earned the champion trophies in the Mare Championship, Mature Horse Championship and the Grand Championship, etching her name onto two separate perpetual trophies to commemorate her victories at the iconic show.
The Grand Championship and Mature Horse Championship presentation took place underneath the lights of the Dixon Oval arena to award the week’s best in show. The Mature Horse Championship saw Noblewood Tarpania, presented in hand by Iron Spring Farm’s long-time handler Quinnten Alston, claim the title and win Linda Moore Memorial Perpetual Trophy. The reserve Champion went to Samantha Kidd’s Kashmir R, a 7-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare by De Niro x Jazz x Samber. This dark bay mare is bred by Michele Garvey Seaver at Red Wagon Farm in Mount Vernon, WA, and was the number two of the KWPN-NA foal inspections in the U.S.A. in 2015.
Shortly after, the two Dutch Warmblood mares saw the same success in the Grand Championship. Noblewood Tarpania was again named Champion for her many high placings, taking home the Curtis Paul Cheyney Jr. Memorial Trophy, while Kashmir R earned Reserve Champion once more. Six horses competed for the Grand Champion’s title, but it were the mature ladies that ruled the roost.
Born in the Netherlands
Noblewood Tarpania is bred by Ab de Lange in The Netherlands out of the mare Hollywood (by Furst Romancier x Johnson x Negro).
Dam Hollywood finished 17th in the 5-year old consolation finals under Marije Van Kersbergen at the 2017 World Championships for young dressage horses. In 2018 this mare produced the foal Noblewood Tarpania through embryotransfer and it sold to the U.S.A. at the 2018 Excellent Dressage Sales auction for 28,000 euro.
Hollywood has produced 21 foals so far through embryotransfer. In the year Noblewood was born – 2018 – the dam had two further ET foals: half-brothers “Noble Tarpania” (by Governor) and the Oldenburg licensed Dutch Dream (by Dream Boy). In 2019 there were five (!) ET foals, in 2020 through 2023 three each.
